The mangala Pathrika  of Prof Subbarama iyer  when he  celebrated  his sixtieth birthday  in Chelakkara in the year 1956 by  a Sanskrit Scholar  called P.S.Anantha Rama  Sastrikal

I  Sajatho yena jatheyathi desa  samunnathim

Parivarthini samsare jana ko vanajayathe

 

Born in a great  family  for  the  greatness of the  country

With a aim to  reform society, will not people praise  him to the sky

The  learned  C.V.Subbaraman born in chelakkara lived in coastal area

Was one who did work  for  people’s welfare and again became  the greatest  among the one who  gave,

The great one  got M.A., became  expert lecturer and  became  teacher of knowledge,

For the completion of sixty years of age, many great  people  and relatives  have assembled

 

II Momudhyamanasya mahathmanasya thyagena , bhogenaa sukarmanaa  cha

Sashti abdha  poorhyakhya  mahothsavena chirathayu  , bhagawan  thanothu

 

The pleasing great  person  was acknowledged  as great  in his sacrifice, his pleasure  and  good deeds

At  the festival   of his  sixtieth  birthday, we pray God  to give him very  long life

 

IV  Jayathu  suchira arya  Subbaramo  Dwijanmaa

Nikhila  jana  thatheenaa klesa harthaa supoojya

Aviratham api bhooyaadh bukthir ananda moorthou

Nija  Sukha paripoorna jeevithaadha aaptha kamaa

 

Let  the Brahmin  Subbarama   lIve long  with victory

The worshipful one  destroyed  the suffering of  all people

Without  stop let him become  one  with great joy

We desire  that he has real happy life fulfilling  all his desires

Here exams do not follow  teaching but teaching is done after exams

 

அரிய சாதனைகள் அனைத்தும் வலிமையினால் 💪 அல்ல; விடாமுயற்சியினால்தான் 🙌.

 

Rare  achievements are  not due  to our strength but by trying without end

 

ஆசையில்லாத முயற்சியால் பயனில்லை ❌

முயற்சியில்லாத ஆசையாலும் பயனில்லை ❌

 

There is nouse  by efforts   without desires

There  is also no  useof desire without effort

 

சலிப்பவன் ஒவ்வொரு வாய்ப்பிலும் ஆபத்தைப் பார்க்கிறான் ⚠️

சாதிப்பவன் ஒவ்வொரு ஆபத்திலும் வாய்ப்பைப் பார்க்கிறான் 🌟

 

The  one who gets disappointed sees  danger  in all efforts

The one who achieves sees chances in every   danger

 

👉 பிரச்சனைகளை நாம் தீர்க்கத் தயங்கினால்,

அவை நம்மைத் தீர்த்து விடும்…

 

If we hesitate  to end  problems

They  will see   end of us

 

ஆகையால் வாழ்க்கை உன் வசமாகவோ 🌷,

விஷமாகவோ 🕸️ இருப்பது உன் கைகளில் தான் 🙏

 

So life  being in your control or your poison

Is within your hands

 

இன்று செய்த தவறுகளை மன்னித்து 🕉️

எல்லோருக்கும் எல்லா நன்மைகளும் அருள்வாயாக இறைவா 🌺

 

Oh God please pardon mistakes   done today

And shower all  that is good on every one

 

கவலைகளை மறக்க இயற்கை தந்த வரம் – தூக்கம் 😴

எனவே கவலையின்றி நிம்மதியாகத் தூங்குங்கள் 🌌

 

The boon given by nature  to forget worries  is sleep

And so  without worries   sleep  happily

1.      നേരത്തെ ഉറങ്ങുന്നതും നേരത്തെ എഴുന്നേൽക്കുന്നതും ഔഷധമാണ്.

Getting up  early   and sleeping early  are  medicines

2.      പ്രഭാതത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തെ സ്മരിക്കുന്നത് ഔഷധമാണ്.

Meditaing on God in the  morning  is medicine

3.      യോഗ, പ്രാണായാമം, വ്യായാമം, ധ്യാനം എന്നിവ ഔഷധങ്ങളാണ്.

Yoga, Pranayama , exercise   and meditation   are medicines

4.      രാവിലെയും വൈകുന്നേരവും നടക്കുന്നതും ഔഷധമാണ്.

Walking  in the morning   and  evening   are  medicines

5.      ഉപവാസം എല്ലാ രോഗങ്ങൾക്കും ഔഷധമാണ്.

Starvation as penance  is  medicine  to all diseases

6.      സൂര്യപ്രകാശവും ഔഷധമാണ്.

Sunlight    is also  a medicine

7.      മൺപാത്രത്തിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നത് ഒരു ഔഷധമാണ്.

Drinking water from mud pot  is a medicine

8.      കൈകൊട്ടലും ഔഷധമാണ്.

Clapping hand   is also a medicine

9.      നന്നായി ചവയ്ക്കുന്നത് ഔഷധമാണ്.

Chewing  well is also  a medicine

10.   വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നതും ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കുന്നതും ഔഷധങ്ങളാണ്.

Drinking water and eating food   with  interest   are medicines

11.   ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ച് വജ്രാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നത് ഔഷധമാണ്.

Sitting in Vajrasana  after   eating food  is a medicine

12.   സന്തോഷവാനായിരിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിക്കുന്നത് ഔഷധമാണ്.

Deciding to live  happily  is a medicine

13.   ചിലപ്പോൾ, നിശബ്ദത ഔഷധമാണ്.

Some times   being silent  is also  medicine

14.   ചിരിയും തമാശകളും ഔഷധങ്ങളാണ്.

Laughter  and jokes  are  medicines

15.   സംതൃപ്തി ഔഷധമാണ്.

Satisfied  living is a medicine

16.   മനസ്സിൻ്റെയും ശരീരത്തിൻ്റെയും സമാധാനമാണ് ഔഷധം.

Peace  of mind  and body  isa medicine

17.   സത്യസന്ധതയും പോസിറ്റിവിറ്റിയും ഔഷധങ്ങളാണ്.

Telling truth   and being positive  are  medicines

18.   നിസ്വാർത്ഥ സ്നേഹവും വികാരങ്ങളും ഔഷധങ്ങളാണ്.

Selfless  love and emotions   are  medicines

19.   മറ്റുള്ളവർക്ക് നന്മ ചെയ്യുന്നത് ഔഷധമാണ്.

Doing good   to others  is a medicine

20.   പുണ്യം നൽകുന്ന കാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്നത് ഔഷധമാണ്.

Doing blessed  acts  is a medicine

21.   മറ്റുള്ളവരുമായി ഇണങ്ങി ജീവിക്കുന്നത് ഔഷധമാണ്.

Living comfortably  and happily  with others  is a medicine

22.   ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കുന്നതും കുടുംബത്തോടൊപ്പം സമയം ചെലവഴിക്കുന്നതും ഔഷധമാണ്.

Eating food and  spending time  along with family  is medicine

23.   ഓരോ നല്ല സുഹൃത്തും പണമില്ലാത്ത ഒരു സമ്പൂർണ്ണ മെഡിക്കൽ സ്റ്റോറാണ്.

Each good friend  is a complete  medical  store without money

24.   തണുപ്പും തിരക്കും ആരോഗ്യവും ഉത്സാഹവും ഉള്ളത് ഔഷധമാണ്.

Cold climate , crowd, having health  and enthusiasm are  medicines 

25.   ഓരോ പുതിയ ദിവസവും പൂർണ്ണമായി ആസ്വദിക്കുന്നത് ഔഷധമാണ്.

Enjoying every  new day  completely  is a medicine

26.   അവസാനം... ഈ സന്ദേശം ആർക്കെങ്കിലും അയച്ച് ഒരു നല്ല കാര്യം ചെയ്യുമ്പോഴുള്ള സന്തോഷവും ഔഷധമാണ്.  പ്രകൃതിയുടെ മഹത്വം മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നത് ഔഷധമാണ്.

தயையாக வித்தையைச் சாற்றினவன் ஒரு பிதா!

சார்ந்த சற்குரு ஒரு பிதா!

அவம் அறுத்து ஆள்கின்ற அரசு ஒரு பிதா!

நல்ல ஆபத்து வேளை தன்னில்

He who puts an end our troubles  is our father

In the earth  to recognize  them as father  as justice

(This is hindi poem  written about  my uncle  Sri APS  Krishnan,He was working in BARC  and retired,Even before  retirement  he  was spiritual in nature ,After  retirement  Mata Amrithanandamayi   attracted him  and   after  doing various  honorary  jobs  for Amma  ,He  is now living  in one  of the homes of Amma  in Valli kavu)

 

Ammaji  ke Parama Sishya ye,

SAmarpith  jeevan hai  inka

Swarth rahith seva  karne  ka,

Aanandamayi  vrith hai iska

 

He is   great  student of  Ammachi

His  life  is a dedicated  one

Doing service  without  selfishness

His penance  is that  of Anandmayi (pervaded  with joy)

 

Jaroormandh ke  padha  darsak ye,

Madath ko  aage  hath hai inka

Bahoothahi rochak vyakthimathva  hai

Thapaswi  sama gyaan hai inkaa

 

He is the shower of path  for  those who need

His hands  are  always  ahead  of  help

He has  a  very interesting personality

His knowledge  is equal  to  that of sage

 

Uchith  salaah  kaa  maarg  inhise,

karm se  vaasthaa hai  inkaa

Heen gareebh ki aasthaahai inse

Vrith  sevakl ka hai inkaa

 

From him  ask way to proper path

His  relation   is   towards   duty

Down trodden and poor have relation with him

And his  penance  is that  of  assistant

 

Paropakari aur  madadhgar hai

SAmajseva  kam hai inkaa

Dhaan soor hai , vanchith ke prathi

Anukambha kaa bhaav  hai  inkaa

 

He  helper of others  and his nature  is helping

His  work  is social service

He is a hero in charity towards those  who were  deceived

His  mood  is always that  of pity

 

Maananeeya ye sanmaananeeya hai,

AAdarsavath jeevan  hai inkaa

Sath pranaam  inke  charanom par

Yahi yai  sanmaan  hai inkaa

 

This  one is honourable  and he  is respectable

His life   is an ideal one

Hundred  salutations  at his feet,

This   is the way  to respect him

 

Seventy Years Back

This write up is not mine but was posted in the face book which attracted me. I have modified certain aspects to make its appeal universal. I have changed certain narrations)

seventy years back:-

They repaired their slippers and wore it again,

They darned their cloths and wore it again,

Even after love marriage the wife did not address,
Her husband by his name or referred to him without respect.

During festivals special dishes were shared with neighbors.

Whenever some dish was left over at night ,
Next day it was boiled well and used as side dish with gruel.

In all wedding celebrations lunch was important feast.

During long journeys they took mixed rices like lemon or tamarind rice to eat on the way.

Most of the people traveled by bus most of the time.

The students of all schools were only children.

Most of the people understood meaning of lyrics of songs

Most relatives and friends wrote letters to each other.

During festivals together they ate feasts and went and watched Cinemas together,

The entire village together ran behind the thief to catch him,

If some shouting is heard from a home, the neighbors rushed to help,(Not like today when they take phone to take a video_)

All of us respected elders of even neighboring homes

Near and dear ones came to attend marriages even two days before

The entire village toiled for every homes celebrations

Each and every one came and offered help if some is sick or in case of death

Dawn was pretty for breathing and thinking

WE call it progress but we have lost all that was good,
WE have sacrificed happiness of community for sake of individual pleasures and enjoyment.
It may be autumn of modernity now but we will never get back the spring
