Yudhishtra and the horseman –Coming of Kali age

Yudhishtra   and the horseman –Coming of Kali age

By
P.R.Ramachander

(I had not   heard  about this story  but read it from the post of my  face book friend  Bhanu Ravi.  I liked it very much  and am putting  it in my own words with acknowledgement to Bhanu Ravi)

Dwapara   age   was about   to end,
One day  Yudhishtra   heard  the news,
That all   his four brothers  were  in custody,
Of a horseman, because  they were,
Not able  to give correct answers  to his questions.

Yudhishtra    the eldest   of the Pandavas  ,
Rushed    to that horse  man and told him,
“I would answer  all your    questions,
Please release    my dear brothers  forth with”

The Horseman agreed  and told  , “One  brother,
For   each write answer”   and asked   him,
“On the way to your palace  I saw a well,
On whose rim   there  was a  coin hanging,
And  a mountain  was hanging  on  the coin,
But I could not see    the coin or mountain falling.”

Yudhishtra   told “It is   the sign of   the Kali age ,
People will do  dharma  equal  to weight of a coin,
And would   also    do sin  equal   to a mountain,
Over time  in that age , effect of Dharma  would get over,
And they would fall in to hell   carrying  the  mountain of sins.”

The horseman told “correct   answer”   and set free  Bhima,
And asked “I saw  one well  surrounded by four wells  on my way ,
When  the outer wells got dried , the centre well gave its   water,
To fill them but when   the centre well  dried the other wells  did not give.”

Yudhishtra   replied  , “Another   sign   of the  Kali age  ,
When children  need wealth   the parents   would struggle,
And give money to them  , but when the parents   need it,
The Children would   not  bother   to give them anything.”

The  horseman this    time released   the great   Arjuna ,
And again asked  , “ While I was   on my   way to here,
I  took rest   for a while  , after  giving rest to  the horse,
And then I saw , a   cow   drinking  milk from a calf.”

Yudhishtra    again replied  ,” Another  sign of  kali age.
The parents    who ought   to nurture   the children,
And bring them up   giving    all that they want ,
Would live on their money   and if needed  sell them.”

The horseman was very happy    and released Nakula,
And then asked  “I saw another   very disturbing sight,
On the way and saw   an animal   which ought   to take food,
By the mouth   was taking it through  the hole for stools.”

Yudhishtra  understood    that the horseman   was indeed ,
Kali ae in human form    and replied.”Dear sir,in your age,
So many such unnatural   things    would happen, The roots of Dharma,
Would be cut off and  evil lie, cheating  , stealing and murder  ,
Would   be done  by people   for sake  of a te,porary benefit.”

The  Kali Purusha     who came   in the form of a  horseman ,
Replied, “Well answered  , Yudhishtra , all these  ,
And more   are bound to happen famines would  increase,
Epidemics  would spread and the root of Dharma  would  be cut off.”

“But my son, you    need not    get worried   about all that,
For  after  seeing you   and understanding     your great wisdom,
I had    decided   that I would not  enter   your country now,
But wait till  you all  brothers   would depart to heaven.”

The sweet love brought in my mind by those rustling dry leaves

The sweet love brought  in my mind by those  rustling   dry leaves

By
Sanu  Puthiran

Translated from Tamil by
P.R.Ramachander

(One friend sent   this peculiar   image   and requested Sanu Puthiran , who spends   all his   day,
In writing  worshipful poems   about the God   who walked  on this earth , whom we  in muted tones  call Periyava and  abd challenged   him to write a poem about it,. He did try and   the world got another great poem on love. No one on earth can bring the soul of  a  poem written  in another language  , while translating  . I have tried. The poet in his   introductory   note writes

“After  prayer mark   to the God,
On the top of  the rusting   sheet ,
Without wasting ink ,  I started ,
Typing on the cell phone and posted,
In the white    face   book pages,
The love   which appeared  ,
Before my mind in haste.”                              )

Oh  dearest  darling mine,
Each of these   shed leaves,
Are bringing back    to my memory,
The sweet times   that I spent  with you

Even in those days   without any rain,
I used to walk  leaning   on your pretty shoulders,
And   the   wet  memories  of that sweet time ,
Are   even now  there   without drying in my mind.

The sweet   times of the loving evenings,
When we   used to walk in the   dried forest,
Are   stamping  in my mind    those lovely   stories,
And    have started to tell many more  such stories.

Due to the past love  getting   dried in our minds,
Even these    dried  lovely leaves,
Are   reminding   us both those ,
Lovely  and sweet love of those days.

But whatever  may be the reasons that exist,
My mind   is  throbbing    and asking me,
To write  honey like   poems  of those times,
Of that love   which never can win  or  fail.

But my mind    tells me    in a secretive voice ,
Whatever   might   have happened   then,
Whether   those  leaves  which   shed  then were dry or wet,
You  have indeed  won in the game of love.

Theist and atheist –Where is God?

Theist   and atheist –Where is God?

By
P.R.Ramachander

One  person  Hari,   who was    good and devout ,
Went to worship   God in a  temple  ,
An atheist  standing  near the gate ,
Jeered it him    and called him a fool

Hari  , with  folded   hands  in salute,
Asked the Athesit, “Sir    what  foolish,
Job have I done  to be called as a fool,
I  was just entering the temple   to worship  the Goddess  there”

The Athesist said , “ You are  going  inside  ,
To worship a  stone , while   there are ,
Plenty of stones    all around here,
And that   is why I called you a fool.”

Hari smiled and replied , “Sir  , do you ,
Salute your mother   and love your wife,
Who are  after all ladies , can you not  worship and love,
That Beggar woman sitting there  “

Atheist Got angry  , “ what nonsense ,
Are you telling , how can I   salute  or love,
That  yonder  beggar  lady”, but Hari asked,
“Sir  She is also a lady like  those in your home.”

Hari replied  , “stones and stones are there,
But there  is stone inside which is my goddess,
Just like   ladies   and ladies   being everywhere,
There are ladies  in your home  who are mother and wife to you.”

The Atheist Got furious   and with blood boiling  ,
Told, I am going to make    the stone inside the temple,
Wear a garland  of  foot wear   today  , as I still,
Do not understand how a  statue  can be a goddess.”

Hari laughed   and  from a   near by shop   brought ,
A very  big framed  photo  of the Atheist   himself,
And Asked the Atheist, “This is  your  photo,
And I am sure  you will agree that  it is not yourself.”

The Atheist   replied  , “Yes  , definitely  it is not me,”
Then Hari , who readily  had a garland  of foot wear ,
Garlanded   the photo   with that garland.
The Atheist was  furious , “How can you?”

Hari said, “you yourself   told   that it is not you.”
The atheist replied  “But  it represents  me,”
Hari told the Atheist  , Sir this is what  I was telling you,
The statue   inside    to my mind   represents the Goddess.”

The guru teaches the beggar about his great assets.

The  guru teaches  the beggar   about  his great assets.

By
P.R.Ramachander

(This is based on the write up of my scholarly friend   sri Vasudevan  Srinivas  in face book. I thought  expressed this way  it would be slightly better)

There was   a great Guru   , who once  told,
“Be grateful to the God    for all that he gives”
A beggar   from the crowd stood up  and asked,
But that  God   has not   given  any thing   to me.

The Guru called   The Beggar  near to him   and asked,
“Suppose  I were   to give   you  two lakh rupees ,
Not in the  old five hundred  or thousand rupee notes,
With some conditions  , would  you be happy my friend?”

The Beggar   nodded  his  head in very great joy  and told,
“Sor, you   are much greater  than that God ,
Who has  not even   given me   anything  at all,
Please give me  the money and I would  obey your conditions.”

The Guru laughed and told  one of his   followers,
“Give him two lakhs in new two thousand notes,
But before you give  , take   away  both his eyes.”
The beggar was shocked   and agitated  and said.

“How come , they have been given by God to me  ,
And how can I give them to you  for your silly rupees.”
The Guru again laughed  and replied, You just told me,
He has not given anything  to you at all .”

The beggar  replied , “No sir now I realize,
I Can see, hear  , speak , smell and touch,
Only because of him  and what  is  after all,
Two lakh  rupees   before all of them.

The pending case of darkness in the court of God

The pending case  of darkness    in the court  of God

By
P.R.Ramachander

(This is based on the writing  of Acharya  Rajaneesh   and was brought to my notice by the posting of   Sri Mani Iyer. Ofcourse I have injected  myself  in to it.)

The God was one day   relaxing  in his world,
Suddenly his world    became   very dark,
God could not understand why  and ,
Some one said, I am Darkness  and ,
I  have   got a great   complaint   to lodge.

God  immediately  lit a lamp   and asked,
Oh welcome my dear    friend  ,
What can I    do for you    as of now,
And Darkness   replied , “wherever I go,
In the entire Universe  the bad Sun  chases me,.”

God   asked   the darkness   to wait in his place ,
And went    to the sun God   and asked   him,
“Why are   you  troubling  darkness like this?”
And the son God replied , “How can  I ever,
Trouble    some one    whom I have not seen?”

God summoned   darkness  to tell her plaint,
But once she came there , she was not there,
But the Sun God insisted , I have great respect to you,
But  unless  I see her and hear her  What can I do?”
And so the case is kept pending  in the court of the God.

The darkness  is the ego   within you   that makes ,
You see   everything around you as dark ,
And the Sun God bright  consciousness of man,
Which  grants him    humility   and wisdom.
