புல்லானாலும் புருஷன், கல்லானாலும் கணவன்

வாயைதிறந்தொரு வார்த்தை நீ சொல்லாதே ! புல்லானாலும் 1

 

Pullanulum  purushan , kallanulum  kanavan

Vayai  thiranthoru vaarthai   sollathe                           Pullanalum

 

Even if  he  is grass , he  is your  husband

Even  If he  is stone  , he is your husband

Do not tell a single    word  opening  your mouth ------  Even if it is grass

 

வேலைக்கு போகாமே வீட்டிலேயே குந்தி

வெட்டிச்சோறு தின்னு கும்மாளம் போட்டாலும்,

பிள்ளைகளை தூக்கி தண்ணீலே போட்டாலும்,

பெண்டாட்டியை போட்டு 'டும்' 'டும்' ன்னு போட்டாலும் புல்லானாலும் 2

 

Velaikku pokaame veettleyea kunthi,

Vettisoruthinnu kummalam pottalum,

Pillaikalai thookki thanneele pottalum

Pentattaipottu tom, tom nnu pottalum –pullanalum

 

Even if he  sits in the house  without going for work

Even if he needlessly shouts after eating food  of the home

Even if he  lifts the babies  and puts  in water

Even if he  beats  his   wife Dum , Dum                  Even if it is grass

 

தண்ணி அடிச்சுட்டு வீட்டுக்கு வந்தாலும்

தடியாலே நீ அவன் தலைமேலே போடாதே,

ஆடு, கோழி, காசு அத்தனையும் போயி

ஆண்டியா வந்து உன் முன்னாலே நின்னாலும் புல்லானாலும் 3

 

Thanni aditchuttu veetukku vandalum

Thadiyalea nee avan thalaimelea podathea

Aadu, koshi, kasu athanaium poyi

Andiyavandu un munnale ninnalum              pullanalum

 

Even if he   drinks  toddy   and comes  home

Do not hit him   with a huge stick on his  head

Even if he loses  goat , hem , and money

And comes  and stands  before you  as a  beggar          Even if it is grass

 

'குப்பம்மா எல்லாம் என் தப்பம்மா , ஒனக்கொரு

கோயில்கெட்டி கும்பிடறேன், தாயி பொன்னம்மா'

இப்படியெல்லாம் சொல்லி இரவிலே வந்து ன்னை

எஈமாத்துவன் இனி பெத்துககாதே தாயி ! புல்லானாலும் 4

 

 

 ‘Kuppamma ellam en thappamma onakkoru

kovilketti kumbideran thayi ponnamma’

Ippadiyellam solli iravile vandunnai

eamathuvan, ini pethukkathe, thayi. pullanalum

 

Oh Kuppammma    everything is my mistake, I will,

Build a temple for you and salute you, darling golden girl

Saying  things like this I, he will  com at night,

And deceive   you, oh mother  do not give more  births        Even it is grass

All relations  crowding together,

Were  Talking about the good in him

 

Unable to stand, talk  and even move

He  was  couting his  last days

 

All relations  simply drowned

Him with   their  love

 

Seeing those  relations,

Who Never  talked  a single word,

To him  who was  living alone,

Loving  him so muchand showering,

All that is  good on him,

He closed  his eyes  with great wonder

 

Whe n you do not get even a drop of love,

Even while living , many human minds

Are  dead  even when alive,

By  robbing away children

Due to not flying kite,

With  dead bodies  of poor

With pleasure , please cross,

Become   the  breath

Would your  great speed,

Be greater  than the big breath of  the poor ,
