Dying days

Dying days

By

Oviyachinthu in tamil

Tanslated  by

P.R.Ramachander

(The scene of a death from the man dying is described here in a great fashion.kudos to the poet)

Joy  was absent  in all faces

All relations  crowding together,

Were  Talking about the good in him

Unable to stand, talk  and even move

He  was  couting his  last days

All relations  simply drowned

Him with   their  love

Seeing those  relations,

Who Never  talked  a single word,

To him  who was  living alone,

Loving  him so muchand showering,

All that is  good on him,

He closed  his eyes  with great wonder

Whe n you do not get even a drop of love,

Even while living , many human minds

Are  dead  even when alive,

Go Cyclone , go

Go Cyclone , go

By

Poet  Vairamuthu

Translated by

P.R.Ramachander

(Here is a poetic request to the cyclone to go away in tamil by one of  the greatest poets in Tamil. God bless him)

Due to trees  getting uprooted

Not cleaning the teeth,

Due to palf leaf roofs  getting disturbed,

Not able  to fan with a palm fan

Without playing  marbles ,

By  robbing away children

Due to not flying kite,

With  dead bodies  of poor

With pleasure , please cross,

Become   the  breath

Would your  great speed,

Be greater  than the big breath of  the poor ,

Does caste of child depend on Father or mother ?

Does caste  of child depend  on Father or mother

Compiled by

P.R.Ramachander

Ravana was born to a maharshi(Brahmin) and a rakshasi- he was considered as a Rakshasa mostly and as a Brahmin some times

Parasara  was a Brahmin-  His son born out of a fisher women ,Veda Vyasa   was a Brahmin

SAnthanu  was a kshatriya-All his three sons(one by a river)  and another2  by fisher women  were kshatriyas

Does it mean  the caste  of son depends on father?

But

Veda Vyasa  was a Brahmin- His son by a  non Brahmin girl Vidhura was not Brahmin

-His sons by Kshatriya  girls were Kshatriya

Does  it mean  that caste  of son depends on mother?

வீரத் திரைகொண்டு விண்ணை யிடிக்குது;

கொட்டி யிடிக்குது மேகம்;-கூ

கூவென்று விண்ணைக் குடையுது காற்று;

சட்டச்சட சட்டச்சட டட்டா-என்று

தாளங்கள் கொட்டிக் கனைக்குது வானம்;

A poem to father

A poem to the father

Translated by

P.R.Ramachander

A mother  would make  me feel  ,

Her  affection  in many many ways,

But father would  make you feel,

Just  by pressing  your hand.

He has  never told me  before me,

I have heard it only  from others

That  he feels very proud of me ,

And has  found  no words  ,

To tell  how  much he loves  me

Though   mother  has scolded ,

Me umpteen times , I never felt about it

But once  my  father’s  face fades,

It has  touched me a lot  immediately

Only when all my friends  tell me

“Do you know  how great is your father?”

Then only  I did  realize that ,

I have got a father , that,

No one else  has got

Possibly  God has  sent father,

To immediately  fulfill  even,

A speck of your  desire.

What  would  my father , who has,

Taught  me how  to walk   and live,

Thought   when , I provided  him,

Support  to walk , due to his age .

Whenever  people  have asked me  ,

“are  you pet of father  or pet of mother?”

I had told them  with  great pride,

Father’s pet , who was mother’s pet”

But today  after  he  has left  me ,

Whose  pet I am?

Though millions  tell me ,

“I am there  for you,

Who ever  can ever support ,

Me  like  my father?’\

He never told me  to do anything

He   has never , ever  scolded me even once

He never   told me  not to do ab=nything,

But by some thing , his face controlled me”

I have  never showed,

Nor has  he showed,

Our  affection to each other,

But to wipe  away  the flowing tears,

Which heralds  it to all,

My  father  is no more there.

Show  yor affection to father,

And your unending love  to your mother

Today itself,

For after   some times  ,

He may not be there to hear it.
