Dear Friends,

I am so happy to inform you that I took a stock taking of all the work done by me on line and found that more than one crore  people have visited my blog spots as well as web sites from the year 2008 till the end of 2021. I hope you would agree with me that it is an achievement since what I write is mostly about Hindu religion. Apart from this I have web sites dedicated to stories , poems , Upanishad translations etc whose number of visitors I do not know. We  met  Ramu the mumbaikar   in his marriage,

To our little  , pretty  , ever smiling Raji  junior.

Next  time  our usual  Mumbai  trip  came ,

And in  the  Dadar  Platform    was standing,

Our new Mumbai  son in law   to receive  us ,

And both  of us  were  taken to his   home

Over years  we  came   to  know him better,

AS a   sterling  man , whose life was reserved

To  provide  joy  and   happiness  to  all others,

And  that to him   every  body  was  his  very own

We are  sure   , God   who had  sent him to Mumbai,

Long time back  missed  him and called  him back in a hurry,

So that  he  had   some one   who  does   all his jobs,

But Oh God  , did you  ever think of all of  us   who will miss him

  AS a young boy  of 16, I received  a Devi Mahathmyam book  in Malayalam from my father.I was trying to chant it.

 

    It was  at this time , I got admission in Annamalai  university. My eldest mama(periya Mama)/Sri A.P.Naganathan)  was running a hotel  in Vridhachalam which was nearby .

 

  I used  to visit Vridhalachalam often as  I liked  both my  short tempered  Mama  and sweet Mami  very much.

 

   Mama was very devout man and was taught “devi Mahathmyam” by his father  in law   Rama Sastrigal  and used  to chant  it often.He gave me a book and also asked me to join him in chanting Devi Mahathmya. I learned  to chant it extremely well from him.

 

   Later I used to chant it alone in my hostel rooms  and I went to Calcutta  and I came to know that  the book was well known in Bengal  and was called  “Chandi”>along with Nyasa it would take three  hours  to chant  the book  complely

 

  Over years I became  fond of that  book. I Came to know that it could solve any problem in human life.Another peculiarity  of the book is that  there  is a provision  in the book, that it can be chanted  for some one else to solve his problem.It was one of the first  book translated by  me .I did not know at that time  how to make a book of the several  pages I had translated  .A  german devotee  helped  me do it in year 2002

 

   This time  during Navarathri  I chanted   the entire book  ten times remembering my great  Mama

 

  I am sure  Goddess  Chamundi  and my Mama in heaven   would have blessed  me

Are  not permenant and would vanish  after  me, I was  not knowing what do do,

 

 Then God one day   told me to  approach  Hindu pedia,   the world  encyclopedia

Of Hinduism  and request  them to preserve it. Dr,Krishna  Maheswari   who is the chairman  of Hindu pedia,

Said there is no problem and he will  put all  my work in pdf form in the encyclopedia

So that  my work will  be forever  available  to all   those who wanted it.

Daily  hundreds of letters  from all  over the world are  pouring to me  appreciating the work.

I would like   to  mention    that  it has been done so that it will reach the future generations   who may not know any Indian language  so that hindu  prayers  and religion are understood by them and   preserved for ever

 

So that , these great  treasure of our religion is available to them and this  is my  preliminary step towards   preservation of this great religion.I am sure many of you   would work very hard  for  fulfilling that aim.  Just  because  we    do not know ourmother toungue or Sanskrit , we do not have right   to loose   these  great prayers   and principles

 

I do not want to claim   any copy right as it is not mine  but ours and any one can use it if possible acknowledging my  contribution(Even that is  not needed)

1.सुखार्थिनः कुतोविद्या नास्ति विद्यार्थिनः सुखम् ।

सुखार्थी वा त्यजेद् विद्यां विद्यार्थी वा त्यजेत् सुखम् ॥

 

Sukhardhins kutho vidhyaa naasthi  vidhyaarthina sukham

Sukharthi  vaa  thyajeth vidhyaam  Vidhyarthi  vaa thyajeth sukham         

 

Those  who hunt  for pleasure  will not get Education

Those   who hunt   for Education will  not have  pleasure

Those   who hunt after pleasure  should sacrifice education

Those   who hunt after Education  should sacrifice pleasure

 

2,न चोरहार्यं न च राजहार्यंन भ्रातृभाज्यं न च भारकारी ।

व्यये कृते वर्धते एव नित्यं विद्याधनं सर्वधन प्रधानम् ॥

 

Na chorahaarya na cha rajahaaryana brathru bhaajyam na cha  Bhaskaari

Vyaye kruthe vadhathhi  yeva nithyam vidhya dhanam sarva  dhana pradhaanam

 

Not one who steals, not one  who rules,

Not one to  take share  from brothers

And their   expenses   would grow daily

As the wealth of education is the greatest wealth

 

3.नास्ति विद्यासमो बन्धुर्नास्ति विद्यासमः सुहृत् ।

नास्ति विद्यासमं वित्तं नास्ति विद्यासमं सुखम् ॥

 

Naasthi vidhyaa   samo bandhur naasthi vidhyaa sama suhrud

Naasthi  vidhyaa samam Vitham, naasthi vidhyaa   samam sukham

 

No relation or friend  is equal to education,

No wealth   and no pleasure is equal to education

 

4.ज्ञातिभि र्वण्टयते नैव चोरेणापि न नीयते ।

दाने नैव क्षयं याति विद्यारत्नं महाधनम् ॥

 

Jnaathibhi va antyathe naiva , choreyaabhi   na neeyathe,

Dhane naiva kshayam yaathividhyarathnam maha dhanam

 

Education cannot be shared with  relatives

Education can not be stolen  from some body

By  charity, Education    does not decrease

And the gem like education  is the great wealth

 

5,सर्वद्रव्येषु विद्यैव द्रव्यमाहुरनुत्तमम् ।

अहार्यत्वादनर्ध्यत्वादक्षयत्वाच्च सर्वदा ॥

 

Sarva dravyeshu vidhyaiva   draivyamaahuranuthamam

Ahaaryathvaadhana dhairyathwad kshayathwach cha sarvadhaa

 

Among all weath  , the greatest one is education,

Because  it cannot be stolen,Pits value  cannot be estimated

And never, never  it   can be   destroyed

 

6.विद्या नाम नरस्य रूपमधिकं प्रच्छन्नगुप्तं धनम्

 विद्या भोगकरी यशः सुखकरी विद्या गुरूणां गुरुः ।

विद्या बन्धुजनो विदेशगमने विद्या परं दैवतम्

विद्या राजसु पूज्यते न हि धनं विद्याविहीनः पशुः ॥

 

Vidhyaa  naama  narasya roopamadhikam prachanna  guptham dhanam

Vidhyaa   bhogakari yasa sukhakari,  vidhyaa guroonaam  guru

Vidhyaa bandhu jano vidhesa gamane vidhyaa  param daivatham

Vidhyaa   rajasu poojyathe na hi dhanam vidhya heena pasu

 

The form of man  is his visible education and invisible  wealth

It grants pleasure, fame  and is   teacher  of teachers

It  is your relation  in foreign countries and  it is divine God

Education and not  wealth  is  worshipped by king,

And one   without   education  is a mere  animal

 

7.अलसस्य कुतो विद्या अविद्यस्य कुतो धनम् ।

अधनस्य कुतो मित्रममित्रस्य कुतः सुखम् ॥

 

Alasasya  kutho vidhyaa, avidhyasya  kutho dhanam

Adhanasya  kutho mithra , amithraswya   kuto sukham

 

Where is  Education   to the  Lazy,

Where  is  wealth   to one  not  educated

Where are friends   to those  who do not have wealth

And   without  friends  where  is pleasure

 

8.रूपयौवनसंपन्ना विशाल कुलसम्भवाः ।

 विद्याहीना न शोभन्ते निर्गन्धा इव किंशुकाः ॥

 

Roopa youvana sampanaa  visala  kula sambhavaa

Vidhyaa  heenaa na shobhanthe nirgandhaa  iva kimsukaa

 

One who is blessed with  health  and beauty,

And  also blessed   to be born in a great  family

If   he does  not have education , he does not shine

And he will  be bad smelling Kisuka fruit

 

9.विद्याभ्यास स्तपो ज्ञानमिन्द्रियाणां च संयमः ।

अहिंसा गुरुसेवा च निःश्रेयसकरं परम् ॥

 

Vidhyaabhyaasa  thapo  jnanam indryaanaam   cha  samyama

Ahimsaa   gurusevaa  cha  nisreyasakaram   param

 

The merging of education , penance, knowledge

Non violence and service   to the Guru

Merged  with the organs  of wisdom

Is  the one   that brings great  fame to one

 

10.विद्या ददाति विनयं विनयाद् याति पात्रताम्।

पात्रत्वाद्धनमाप्नोति धनाद्धर्मं ततः सुखम्॥

 

Vidhyaa dadhaathi  vinayam , vinayaadhi  pathrthaam

Paathradwaadh dhanamaapnothi dhanath   dharma  thatha sukham

 

Education gives you humility

And humility  grants you suitability  to greatness

And this greatness   brings him great  wealth

And by wealth   Dharma   and pleasure

 

11.दानानां च समस्तानां चत्वार्येतानि भूतले ।

 श्रेष्ठानि कन्यागोभूमिविद्या दानानि सर्वदा ॥

 

Dhaanaanam cha   samasthaanaam  chathwaryethaani  bhothale

Sreshtaani  kanyaa go bhoomi vidhyaa dhaanaani  sarvadhaa

 

Among   the charities  practiced  in earth,

Four of them are   the greatest

Giving  away of a maid, cow, earth  and education

 

12.क्षणशः कणशश्चैव विद्यामर्थं च साधयेत् ।

क्षणे नष्टे कुतो विद्या कणे नष्टे कुतो धनम् ॥

 

Kshanasa   kanaschaiva vidhyaa Martha cha  saadhayeth

Kshane  nashte  kutho vidhyaa  kane nashte ktho  dhanam

 

Without wasting   even a second  or its part

We should   start  earning  education\

Without loosing seconds  earn education

And without loosing part of a second  earn wealth

 

13.विद्या नाम नरस्य कीर्तिरतुला भाग्यक्षये चाश्रयो

धेनुः कामदुधा रतिश्च विरहे नेत्रं तृतीयं च सा ।

सत्कारायतनं कुलस्य महिमा रत्नैर्विना भूषणम्

 तस्मादन्यमुपेक्ष्य सर्वविषयं विद्याधिकारं कुरु ॥

 

Vidhyaa  naama   narasya keerthir athulaa  bhgyakshaye chaasrayo

Dhenu  kaamadhudhaa  rathischa virahe nethram tritheeyam cha saa

Sathkaaraaya  thanam kulasya  mahimaa  rather vinaa  bhooshanam

Thasmaad anyam upekshya sarva vishayam  vidhyaadhikaaram  kuru

 

Education  is man’s  incomparable fame, it grants support  when luck diminishes

It is desire fulfilling cow, is equal  to Rathi when you are love lorn and is like  a third eye

The temple of hospitality,  greatness to the clan, ornament without gems

And so leave  out everything and make education your boss
