Family deity according to Maha Periyava

Family deity according  to Maha Periyava

Worship  of family deity-Why should we  worship  family deity? What  is the benefit?  -Maha  Periyava    Explains

Hindus  have  several Gods-Some  people worship Shiva, Some Vishnu , Saome Sakthi, Some  Muruka and some  others Ganesa, Some people  worship  Sun God  whom we can see

Adhi Sankara joined all these sub sects  and made  Sanathana Dharma,Higher  than worshipping all these  is the worship of Family God,-Family God is the God of our family members  who were  born before us but  what  we here refer is the male line of our family-that  is father-grand father -great grand father  and so on

WE  refer this as Gothra-our lineage from a saint

Our forefathers always  would  have married Ladies from other  Gothras

They would  have done namaskara (salutations) before family deity, Would  have  given their hair , Would have punctured  their  ears before  their  family deity

They would have  gone  to many temples But before we know  what is devotion , our parents would have taken and made us salute before  our family  deity , If we think about it  , we were made  to stand in a huge queue of our ancestors before our family deity

Recently  someone  has written face book

Family God

See  properly the temple  of our family God

Daily  light  the lamp, All problems would run away

If Family deity is decorated and shines ,

Our family  itself will shine

Gothra  is a steel chain  that  never has been cut

For all children born in the  familu,

The  giving of hair, the boring of ears were  done here

If we  decide  that  the God who protected our forefathers

Would protect  us also, that is very  great  blessing

If we  visit the temple  of  family  God

And perform  all recommended rituals there

All our draw backs would  vanish,

Even if there  are thousand Gods

They  will not be equal to family deity
