Poem –dead body
Based
on tamil poem by Adhiths Karikalan

The pretty
name kept by our parents,
The silly
name kept by college
mates
And
the lovely names kept by our darling
Changes
in to “corpse”
The
pretty dress worn as a baby
The flamboyant dress worn as lad
The
loving dress brought by our
darling
Changes in to
“rag”
Does the
darling wife who loved,
The friends
who spent time chatting
And
our own kids whom we loved
Give away the life with us
Does
the body as boy that went to school
Does the healthy
and lovely body as youth
And the body which limped with a
stick
Not give away
its soul and lay there like a
doll
The siblings who told That they will give their life,
The
darling wife who said , “I will die before you”
And the loving children who said
they will not allow me to die,
Are all
standing there but dumb for the moment
The
relatives who said they were
my uncles
The
lovely ladies who said
they were my aunts
And
hundreds of cousins who teased me and made
me giggle
Are standing there saying they are no
one to us
In
this world to which you have come,
In
the body that was
given by HIM
Who is your
relation now ,
Are they those
who carry us to cremate
