Much larger  population of Vegetarians  in several   states of  North India than  in all  southern states

I was  always  thinking that The people  in South India   are mostly vegetarians  . I knew  that  Brahmin community of  the entire  South india is  vegetarian. Apart from that  Ambala Vasis  ( Many  communities  who serve in temples) of Kerala , Saiva  Pillais  , Saiva  Vellalars, Saiva  Mudaliars , Lingayaths, Jains  who live  in KarnataKa  and Andhra Pradesh  to my knowledge   where  vegetarians.
Just for fun I  thought  I would do search for the facts  The latest  Census figures released in 2014 reveal  that all the southers states  except  Karnataka   are almost purely  non vegetarian states. Here   are the figures  that may  shock many of you.
Rajasthan  has the highest fraction of vegetarians: 74.9%.

Other states with vegetarians include
Haryana (69.25%),
Punjab (66.75%),
Gujarat (60.95%),
Madhya Pradesh (50.6%),
Uttar Pradesh (47.1%),
Maharashtra(40.2%),
Delhi (39.5%),
Jammu&Kashmir (31.45%),
Uttarakhand (27.35%),
Karnataka (21.1%),
Assam (20.6%),
Chhattisgarh (17.95%),
Bihar (7.55%), J
Jharkhand (3.25%),
Kerala (3.0%),
Orissa (2.65%),
Tamil Nadu (2.35%),
Andhra Pradesh (1.75%),
West Bengal (1.4%),
Telangana(1.3%)

This would mean that Tamil Nadu, Kerala. Andhra Pradesh  , and Telengana have  about 98%  people as  Non vegetarians and in Karnataka  only 80%  people   are non Vegetarians and in most  of the other North Indian states  Much larger  proportions are  Vegetarians  .
