Some tid bits about Bhagawad Gita

1, Bhagwad Gita is
in Bhishma Parva of Mahabharatha –chapter
25 to 42
2.it has 700 verses, 620 spoken by Krishna, 57 by Arjuna,
sixty seven by SAnjaya and one by Dritharashtra.
This is
described in the following Sloka
Shadasathaani
savimsathi slokaanaam Praha Kesava,
Arjuna saptha
panchasath, saptha sashtinthu Sanjaya,
Dritharashtra
slokamekam Geethaya Mana
muchyathe
3,Mahabharatha vis considered as the fifth Veda and its Jnana Kanda(Chapter of wisdom) is Bhagawath Gita
4.In the first
four chapters of Gita , Lord Krishna speaks as friend of arjuna and from then onwards as God.
5.The first six chapters of Gita is the philosophy of Jeevathma( individual soul)
The next six deals
with Paramathma -the God,
And the last six a
compilation of both
6.Commentries to BHagawath Gita has been done by Adhi Sankara, Swami Ramanuja and Madhwacharya.
6.The first ever translation of Bhagawad Gita in to English verse is by Edwin Arnold done in 1885. I understand
that there is translation in to poem by Surendra pal sing in 2003 and I have
