(Based on a   folk story  I heard from my daughter)

One day   lord  Krisbna’s    wife’s  Bhama   and Rugmani,
Met  Draupadhi    wife   of Pandavas in the   forest,
With curiosity  they asked, “How come   our husband
Loves  you more  “ and with   a smile   she replied,
“To you  both , Krishna  is yours, But   I always   think,
I belong to him   as a great  devotee   and a friend

The mile stone 5 is a personal one.-our fiftieth wedding anniversary

The mile stone 5 is a personal one.-our fiftieth wedding anniversary

Image may contain: 2 people, including Puducode Rama Iyer Ramachander, people standing, beard and text
(My given name is Rama and she is Jaya and today the victory of rama (rama Jayam) started fifty years back
This day (13-7-1970) , fifty years back , we got married to each other. Today after another 50 years we are again celebrating our anniversary surrounded by our son, daughter in law , daughter, son in law , two grand sons and two grand daughters .
. Taking in to consideration the fact that , it is my wife’s love and encouragement that makes me do what I do, I have already made her the silent partner of all that I do and achieve. Together we have raised a great son and a great daughter. As on today we have two very great grand daughters and two great grand sons.
By modern day standards , we are not rich but both of us think that whatever we have is all that we need. We both believe strongly in God and also believe that he knows what we need.
For the past twenty years I have been helping thousands of people all over the world with astrological consultation mainly on matching horoscopes. Several times we were offered huge amounts of money but we both decided that we will not take any money.
We do have differences in our likes, dislikes and priorities in life. But very early in married life we decided that these differences would not create even a small ripple in our married life. I am sure that God guides us even here and we both salute him and tell “Sir , a big thank you”, and I would like to say to her , “My wife, I consider you as the greatest blessing Of God to me.”
We are in a world of ecstasy and a poor poet like me felt that the best present I could ever give her was a poem dedicated to her..Hope you will all agree.
Poem dedicated to my life time companion
I am sure all but the young ones would agree with me that , the need for a wife is greatest when one becomes old , as a companion and a loving friend Without her by his side , he becomes miserable. Here is an ode written by me an old man to my wife:-
Wife mine , you came to my home ,
As a pretty , lovely lady companion to me,
Those were the days when I thought ,
That you were brought there to act as my slave,
To fulfill all the wishes that I had in my mind.
Slowly times changed , you became a lovely mother ,
And I found that your attention to me was halved,
And I too was very busy those days in the rat race ,
To earn more and more important positions and more and more wealth,
You were sweet Mummy to my kids , capable nurse to my parents,
Great manager of all my affairs including wealth ,
A wonderful cook , whom I could not miss even for a day,
And teacher and trainer to my kids when they grew up,
But I was just another scientist and nothing else .
Parents mine and that of yours bid farewell when their time came,
And the kids in our home developed wings and flew away,
Leaving both of us in the lonely hellish nest that we are in today,
And my office decided that this oldie is of no use and should retire.
The happy busy lovely home which was filled with laughter and smiles.
Was turned in to a grave of simple silence.
Whenever the little babies of children came to visit us,
Our faces were filled with smile and joy ,
But they too returned back to their homes,
Leaving the eerie , tasteless and suffering silence of loneliness.
My golden darling , you are my only companion now ,
And I feel like singing . “Jaya reme , Manorame , mama dehi Karavalambam*”.
And even without that singing , you knew that without you,
I was not even a big zero but a tiny , tiny nothing,
But you do not mind it as , for you are to me now,
Friend , nurse , guide , manager and a psychotherapist,
All which jobs you do with a smile and no frown in face .
For you want to be my everything till both of us part.
Ten years back when we celebrated our 40th anniversary one friend wrote
“My pranams are also due to your dear Dharmapathni, who permitted you, supported you and made this all possible by maintaining a 'peaceful homefront', for the last 40 years happily with you, true to the role she accepted in your life. You two have given a new meaning to the word 'Together', which is the Key to a successful family life. Kalidasa's opening prayer in one of his great epics poems (Kumarasambhava ?), exemplifying Lord Shiva and Parvathi, starting with वाक् and its inseperable 'अर्थ्", comes to my mind. You two have proved it a fact.”
It has become true all these ten years

Mile stone 4. I am a small time astrologer , poet and story teller

Mile stone 4. I am a small time astrologer , poet and story teller

Image may contain: one or more people and outdoor

As astrologer
I have been doing help to the human society as a small time astrologer , practicing it as a social service . I helped very large number of parents , grooms and brides by matching horoscopes. The credit must go to God and science of astrology , that most of those marriages were successful .
I have also helped people by analyzing horoscopes of people and suggesting them to chant proper stotras with faith .God helped many of them by answering to their prayers
Slowly due to lack of faith as well as easy availability of soft ware, the demand for matching horoscopes have very much reduced
Due to becoming a very old thatha, I get terribly upset when youngsters approach me with terrible and very sad problems, because I have great affection to all human beings .
I am seriously thinking of discontinuing this aspect of my work but my close friends , tell me that I should not, because I am helping people in need , who do not have any place to go
AS a small time poet
Right from age of 20 I have started writing English poems .For many marriages of my relatives, I used to write poems and present to them .Recently I was pleasantly shocked when a dear relation of mine , showed me a dilapidated paper, which contained a poem I had written at the time of her marriage.
When I started translating stotras , I was very particular that they should be translated as poems,. I have also written poems .You can see some of them in https://poetrypoem.com/cgi-bin/index.pl…
Once I saw that poetic translation of Bhagawat Gita by a foreigner was really horrible and I did a good translation of BHagawad Gita http://stotrarathna.blogspot.com/…/bhagawad-gita-in-english…
I have also written lots of English rhymes based on Indian themes for Indian school
As a small time story writer
Right from the age of ten “Raja anna(me) “ was a famous story teller in my village .I continued my story telling to all kids whom I saw, which include my children and my grand children. My dear daughter thought that my great skill should not go waste and with her affectionate help I put most of my kids stories that I know in to a web site http://raja-thatha-corner.bizhat.com/Stories.html. When attending marriage functions I am pleasantly shocked , that parents and grandpas call their kids ,
And introduce me to them as That Raja thatha , whose stories they read
AS a kid I liked the Vikramadhithyan stories and with lot of effort I translated the entire Vikramadhithyan stories for the first time http://vikramadhithya.blogspot.com/
One of my close scientist friends wanted me to illustrate Malayalam proverbs by stories.I did for 100 proverbs https://www.yumpu.com/…/malyalam-proverbs-raja-thathas-corn… and to teach proverbs a school in Coimbatore is using these stories and when they requested to do them help by writing stories for few tamil proverbs too

Mile stone 3 Informing Brahmins about rules and rituals as well as manthras for different occasions

Mile stone 3 Informing Brahmins about rules and rituals as well as manthras for different occasions

Some time in 2005, I started putting the tharpana sankalpams for every year as well the upakarma manthras for every year in yahoo groups .In 2008 one of my friends requested me to translate in to English, a tamil of rites and rituals called samkshepa dharma sastram. It was initially put in celextel .org and later I started my own blog . According to one of my yahoo group friends , I translated , a book in tamil called SAmkshepa dharma Sasthram and started my blog with this translation . I first put the manthras for doing , sandhya vandana, Tharpana and also Avaniavittam for those from the three Vedas separately. I then reviewed the iyer marriage procedure step by step and gave a detail write up , I also gave the procedure for doing pilgrimage to Rameswaram and Varanasi.
I started giving tharpana sankalpa manthras aand Avani avitta manthras every year in English .These were very helpful for people living in places, where priests are not available and became immensely popular.
Apart from them, I went on translating books on Iyer rituals , AS per the request of people , I have also put , Mahalaya paksha THarpana manthras and their sankalpa Manthras of every year
This blog became immensely popular and has become very useful in persons living abroad .Seeing them, many people contact me for clarification on certain rituals when no one is available to them .I have been continuing to take lot of interest in this activity .In the last 10 years about 20 lakh people have visited this blog.I think God has directed me to help people in safeguarding the rites and rituals of Iyer Brahmins

I wrote  10 years back

The second mile stone pertains to my translation of 300 Carnatic music Keetrthanas originally written in five different languages. I am not a musician and not a great pundit in any of the five languages. I am not a musician or  a musicologist.
I started   these  translations because   , if a musician understands  the meaning, he can add  proper  bhava to his song, Also the person who hears   the song also  enjoys it better, Very large  number  of  great scholars and great  musicians  have  done a great job in this direction

But  today   after  10  years

Though by  now after  10 more years  I have translated 2000 songs(1700 more songs)I can be nowhere near them.Apart from transiting all Krithis (653)  of Thyagaraja , I have translated 69 krithis of  Muthuswamy Dekshithar  , 97 Krithis of oothukadu, 64 krithis  of Purandarqa Dasa, 41  Krithis  of  Panasam  Sivan , 16 krithis  of Narayana theertha  , 40 Krithis  of Mahakavi  Bharathi  , 32 Krithis of Muthaiah  bhagawather, 24  Krithis of Sadashiva Brahmendr, 32 Malayala m krithis  of Prabodha Chandran 17 Krithis of Neelakanda  Shivan, 52  Krithis  of  D.Pattammal  , 26 Krithis of annamayya. 65 Krithis  of  THangam Viswanathan   35 Krithis of Ambujam Krishna . 13 Abhangs of  THukaram , 57 Krithis  of B.Rama Murthy Rao   and many other  composers

I have translated  the musical drama  ,  Nandanara charitham of  Gopala Krishna Bharathi  . Prahladha  Bhakthi Vijayam and Nauka  Charitham of thyagaraja  and Savithri  Puranam of Neelakanda Shivan
I am being  consulted   for  translation   of  Krithis   suitable  for dance drama  by various  Dance schools  of  USA.More than 24  lakkh  people have visited my web site

I am a small  fry  in this field

All these  would not have been possible by me.Everything  is the work of God and me as his key board

Mile stone 1  -   stotras   addressed  to gods

Raja Thatha's stotra translations: Mile stone 2016 in the high way ...

I wrote  in july  month   10 years back  that

The first mile stone is my completing the translation of 500th Stotram, I can publicly confess that I am not a great scholar and whatever I have done is by the express guidance from God. This great collection includes such gems like Bhagavad Gita, SundraKandam of Ramayanam, Devi Mahathmyam, Sri Krishna Karnamrutham ,Three great Sahara Namams(Vishnu, Lalitha and Shiva) The great Abhirami Andhathi from Tamil ,and Jnana Pana of Poonthanam. It also includes great works like Narada Bhakthi Suthra, Yaksha Prasna, Aprakshanubhuthi, Sri Ramo dhantham and so on. I would like to humbly bow before God and tell, “Lord, thank you for using me as your finger for typing in my computer using my fingers.”
