No  natural calamities have happened

Due  to being surrounded by temples

Kumbhakonam is a temple city

The temples  where  you can see and enjoy,

Sculptures of ancient age

Temples   which solve all your problems,

All around Kumbhakonam

To get the blessings  of the nine planets,

Around it are   the nava  Graha temples

From time immemorial it has  been said,

Kumbhakonam is an alternative to Benares

Spirituality   throughout the year,

Various types assembly  of godly souls

If we mention Coffee ,

Is it not Kumbhakonam degree

The  Cambridge  of south India,

College  is in Kumbhakonam

You can see  the prettiness of oil lamps,

You can see them in Kumbhakonam

There are silk  weaving centres here,

Ofcourse there are silk cloths

On the south is  Arasalaru  river,

And in the north is cAuvery

Countless  ponds ,

In the city of Kumbhakonam

The maha maha tank and the tank of golden lotus,

Are  in the middle of  the city of beauty

Kumbhesa, naagesa  and Bana pureeswara

Are  living   in this holy city

Saarangapani, Chakrapani and Rama,

And others are having blessed  presence in this city

Mangalambika   forever  showers,

Her auspiciousness  in this city

From time immemorial  there is pretty ,

Procession of chariots  , in the roads chariots  move

In the month of Chithirai, the chariots  ,

Going    round the temples is its great beauty

All the year round  festivals in its temples,

And the  crowd of devotees cannot be estimated

On the Akshaya  tritheeya  day , join together,

All the  Garuda  vahana  of all temples

The blessed   vegetables  which are fresh

In the nearby surrounding villages

Unripened  okra , banana  pseudo stem,

The  just  produced  cucumber , the very unripe dolichos

Several types  of very perfumed flower,

For sweet smelling mouth, betel leaves and nuts

All  of them  new and very fresj,

WE will experience  that joy in Kumbhakonam

All round  Kumbhakonam ,

Are   the countless  villages

Different types of mango fruit

Which are not to be seen any where else

Early morning Kala padi ,kadhar(alfonso)

When we are  having lunch Chendhooraa

In the day  time Banganapalli

In the noon time Mulgoa,

In the night time  Pathiri, Rumani

And at night  Himamapasand

Each of them with grat taste

The very many varieties  of  mangoes grown here

There  are  very many  Banana orchards,

And the type of Bananas  in also large

Several type of Jack fruit varieties,

There are  several  in  our city

Kumbhakonam is a wonderful city,

All people  like  Kumbhakonam

Telling and telling it will not end

Its  greatness  which all cannot be told

It  is a holy city ,

Which every one should come and see

Even if  we say heaven,

Would it   be like our city Kumbhakonam

 கண்டுகளிக்க  கோவில்கள்

  குறை தீர்க்கும் கோயில்கள்

  கும்பகோணம் சுற்றிலும்,...,"

 நவகிரகங்களின் அருள் பெற

 நவகிரக கோவில்கள் சுற்றி உண்டு

  காசிக்கு வீசென காலம் காலமாய்       கும்பகோணத்தை சொல்வதுண்டு

 வருடம் பூரா ஆன்மீகம் என

 விதம் விதமாய் சத்சங்கம்

  காப்பி என்று சொன்னாலே

  கும்பகோணம்  டிகிரிதானே !

 கேம்பிரிட்ஜ் ஆஃப் சவுத் இந்தியா

  காலேஜ்  எங்கள் ஊரில் தான்.

  வெள்ளியிலிருந்து ஈயம் வரை

  வேண்டிய பாத்திரம் கிடைத்திடுமே!

   குத்துவிளக்கின் அழகை

  கும்பகோணத்தில் பார்க்கலாம்

  பட்டுத்தரியும் இங்குண்டு

  பட்டுத் துணிகள் பல உண்டு.......

  தெற்குப்பக்கம் அரசலாறு

  வடக்குப் பக்கம் காவிரியாறு

  கணக்கற்ற குளங்கள்

  கும்பகோணம் நகரத்தில்

  மகாமக குளம்,பொற்றாமரைக்குளம்

  மத்தியில் அமைந்த அழகு நகரமிது

 கும்பேசர், நாகேசர், பாணபுரீஸ்வரர்

 குடிகொண்ட புண்ணிய   ஸ்தலமிது

 சாரங்கபாணி சக்கரபாணி, ராமரென

 சகலரும் அருள்பாலிக்கும் ஸ்தலமிது

மங்களாம்பிகை என்றென்றும்

மங்களங்கள் வழங்கும் ஊர் இது,

 சுற்றியுள்ள கிராம மக்கள் தினம்

 சுற்றி வரும்  ஊர் இது.

 தேரோடும் வீதிகளில் காலம் காலமாய்

 தேர் நகரும் அழகு ஊர்வலமுண்டு.

 சித்திரைத் திங்களில் கோவில்களில்

 சுற்றிவரும் தேர்கள் கொள்ளை அழகு

வருடம் முழுவதும் கோவில் திருவிழா

வரும் பக்தர் கூட்டம் கணக்கில்லை.....

அட்சய திருதியில் ஒன்று கூடும்

அனைத்து கோவிலின் கருட வாகனம்

பசுமை மிகுந்த கறிகாய்கள்

பக்கத்து சுற்றியுள்ள கிராமங்களில்

பிஞ்சு வெண்டை, பச்சை கத்தரி,

பிஞ்சு பரங்கி, நீள புடலை, மிதிபாகல்,

மணத்தக்காளி, வாழைத்தண்டு,

பிஞ்சு வெள்ளரி, குஞ்சு அவரை,

மணக்கும் புஷ்பங்கள் பலவகை,

மணக்கும் வாய்க்கு பாக்கு வெற்றிலை

அத்தனையும் புதியதாய் பசுமையாய்

அனுபவித்து மகிழ கும்பகோணம்

கும்பகோணம் சுற்றிலும்

கணக்கில்லா க்ராமங்கள்

விதம் விதமான மாம்பழங்கள்

வேறு எங்கும் இப்படி பார்த்ததில்லை

சாப்பிடும்போது செந்தூரா

பகலில் பங்கனபள்ளி

மதியம் மல்கோவா

வாழைத்தோப்பு ம் அதிகம்தான்

வாழைகள் விதமும் அதிகம்தான்

பலாப் பழ வகைகளும்

பல உண்டு எங்கள் ஊரில்

அற்புதமான ஊர்  கும்பகோணம்

அனைவரும் விரும்பும் கும்பகோணம்

சொல்லச் சொல்ல மாளாதே!

சொல்லி முடியா பெருமைகள்!

அனைவரும் வந்து பார்க்க வேண்டிய

அற்புதமான புண்ணிய ஸ்தலம் இது.
