Ek diya tumhara

Aur ek lau hai meri

Tal jaayegi ye kali raat andheri

Hum dor dor saahas bator laayenge

(Hum dor dor saahas bator laayenge)

One  lamp  is yours

And there  is a  flame  of mine

This   darkness  of  black  night  will pass,

WE  will  gather  courage  from minute to minute

Tootenge nahin.. nahin..

Hum haar nahin maanenge

Hum haar nahin maanenge

Hum haar nahin maanenge

Keh Do!

Break  , we  will  not

We  will not accept  defeat

We   will  not accept  defeat

We  will  not accept defeat

Tell  that to him

Keh Do!

Keh Do...

Ho...

Hum haar nahin maanenge, Keh Do

Tell that  to him

Tell  that  to him

 Ho...

We will  not accept defeat

Jinke rishtey gehre gehre hote hain

Unke dono pankh sunehre hote hain

Doori unko aur paas le aati hai

Aur udaan bhi aur khaas ho jaati hai

Hum bikhara ek sansaar nahin maanenge

Hum haar nahin manenge, keh do!

For  those   to whom   the   attachment is strong

Both their wings   would be made  of gold

Though   they are  far away  , they will  be  brought close

And that  flight also   would become  very special

WE are spread out and world   will not bother  about us

WE   will  not accept  defeat, please  tell him

Hum haar nahin manenge

Hum haar nahin manenge

Hum haar nahin manenge, Keh Do..

WE will not accept   defeat

We will  not accept defeat

We will not accept defeat, tell him

Hum haar nahi manenge

Hum haar nahi manenge

Hum haar nahi manenge

Keh Do!

Keh Do...

we will not accept defeat

 we will not accept defeat

 We will not accept defeat

Tell him

Tell him.

Woh diye jo toofano se shart lagaate hain

Itihaas ke panne unko hi dohrate hain

Hum mann se bas unko hi salaami dete hain

Khud se aage jo auron ko rakh paate hain

Hum sooraj hain andhkaar nahin maanenge

Nahin maanenge

Those lamps  enter  in to a bet  with cyclones

And only  pages  of history  would exaggerate   about them

And we   only  grant them salute   with our mind

We  who can keep others  before them

Are  suns and we  will not accept   darkness

Hum haar nahi maanenge

Hum haar nahi maanenge

Hum haar nahi maanenge

Keh Do!

we will not accept defeat

 we will not  accept defeat

 We will not accept defeat

Tell him

Hum haar nahi maanenge

Hum haar nahi maanenge

Hum haar nahi maanenge

Keh Do!

we will not accept defeat

 we will not  accept defeat

 We will not accept defeat

Tell him

Do not start , do not start , do not start

 मत निकल, मत निकल, मत निकल –

Do not start , do not start , do not start

(great poem .you may feel it has been written for present time)

शत्रु ये अदृश्य है,
विनाश इसका लक्ष्य है,
कर न भूल,
तू जरा भी ना फिसल,
मत निकल, मत निकल, मत निकल।

This enemy remains unseen
Destruction is its aim
Do not make a mistatke
Do not even slip a little
Do not start , do not start, do not start

हिला रखा है विश्व को,
रुला रखा है विश्व को,
फूंक कर बढ़ा कदम,
जरा संभल,
मत निकल, मत निकल, मत निकल।

It is making the world shake
It is making the world cry
Do not take a big step by mistake
Just be careful
Do not start , do not start , do not start

उठा जो एक गलत कदम,
कितनों का घुटेगा दम,
तेरी जरा सी भूल से,
देश जाएगा दहल,
मत निकल, मत निकल, मत निकल।

Getting up is a wrong step,
For how many , power will get rotated
Just by a small mistake on your part
The country would start shivering
Do not start , do not start , do not start

संतुलित व्यवहार कर,
बन्द तू किवाड़ कर,
घर में बैठ,
इतना भी तू ना मचल।
मत निकल, मत निकल, मत निकल।

Please take up balanced activity
Close the door
Sit at home
You do not even move a little
Do not start, do not start , do not start

SHOW UPDATES

81 YO translating ancient scriptures into English so all can benefit and understand. Noble deed.

p.r. ramachander

We keep listening to many people talk about tradition and the rich cultural heritage, they getting deteriorated day by day due to external influences and often long, tiring speeches about the preservation of culture are given. How many of them, who speak about preserving ancient wisdom try to actually do it? How many of us do really know the actual meaning of Slokas in Vedas and Upanishads? Do we even understand that it is not religion-specific and that everyone can read and assimilate their richness? Also, people who are interested in reading ancient scriptures in their original format often find it hard to understand because of the language difficulty. Not everyone who loves to know about ancient wisdom opens the scriptures and Upanishads to read them because they seldom understand what's written in it. In an era, where foreign languages are ruling the world and the ancient languages are lying behind the doors, an 81-year-old man is trying to gift the goodness of ancient scriptures to the present world by translating them into English. Let's know about the work of P.R. Ramachander, a native of Trichur.

A Man with Strong Educational and Professional Background:

P.R. Ramachander was born on January 10th, 1940 in Chelakkara, Trichur District, Kerala to Sri. P.R. Rama Iyer. A person from Kerala's Iyer sect, Ramachander pursued M.A in Mathematics and has obtained his Post Doctoral Diploma in Agricultural Statistics. He worked as the Head of the Department of Statistics in several ICAR institutes. After serving for 36 years, he is retired as the Head of Division of Economics and Statistics of Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore in the year 2000. He published close to 150 papers and 4 books. One of the institutions in England recognized him as one of the top scientists of the Millenium. Ramachander is a linguist and can read, write and speak English, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi; can read Sanskrit and can speak Telugu and Kannada. He loves astrology and historical studies. Blogging, writing religious articles keep him busy. He keeps writing and publishing poetry in English. His wife is Jayalakshmi and his son is Ramesh who live in Florida. His daughter Meera Priya lives in Bangalore. Ramachander has two granddaughters and a grandson. Currently settled in Bangalore, Ramachander is a member of the Kerala Iyer Trust.

Resolution on the Day of Retirement:

On the day of his retirement, Ramachander took a resolution. He decided to translate all the Hindu stotras written in Tamil, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada into English. So far he has translated 2000 stotras written in four languages. He also translated Valmiki, Kamba, and Adhyathma Ramayana into English. Looking at how people are facing difficulty in accessing the language, he has also translated 21 Upanishads, Gita, Devi Mahatmyam, Narayaneeyam, Jnanapana , Krishna Karnamrutham, 21 Vedic sukthas including Chamakam, Rudram and 65 out of 80 known stotra compositions of Adhi Sankara into English. With a wish to preserve Carnatic Kritis in English, he has translated 1950 Kritis that include all the known Krithis of Thyagaraja, about 100 krithis each of Purandara Dasa, Oothukadu Venkata Subba Iyer etc. His translations are available in pdf format - Click here to See His Works

Ramachander, who also loves writing and telling stories, blogs on topics like Mantras, Essays, Samkshepa Dharma Sastram, and Kerala temples. We wish more visits from the young and the old to his blog and may many acquire the goodness of ancient wisdom.

Our journey over time with hope

Our  journey  over time with  hope

By

P.R.Ramachander

Vikarai  year (2019-20)

Vikara  means ugliness  and aso disorder  and

During year  Vikari without  our realizing  ,

We started living   in a  disorderly and ugly manner

Thinking   that, that  is the  best  manner  to live

Saarvari  year(2021-2021)

Saarvara  means  darkness  and hopelessness,

And during the year human life  became disorderly,

There  was  darkness  and hopelessness    everywhere

Every time  there  was glimmer of light, people  blew off the light

Plava   year  (2021-2022)

Plava  means    the boat  that  will  make   us cross,

Us out  this  darkness . There  will not be  any boat man,

And so we  will  have  plough  the plava   hard,

And   we will  cross  , this misery  and darkness

Shubha kritha  year  (2022-23)

Shubha kritha   would means good happening

After  crossing  the darkness in the boat  we row,

WE will  reach  a time   when all  good will happen to us ,

And God will be with us  and take  us to the good times

Guruvayurappan temple , Nettigere In Bangalor

Guruvayurappan temple , Nettigere  In Bangalor

Compiled  by

P.R.Ramachander

(My sister  Smt  Geetha  Narayanan , wanted me to  write   about this temple today.I have tried my best)

When any  Malayali  Hindu is in trouble  , He  cries out  “ende  Guruvayurappa(Oh my  Guruvayurappa)” as the Baby God  Guruvayurappan  is his solace .

So wherever he goes  , he  tries   to  have  his “Lord  Guruvayurappan” near him  by building at  least a  small   temple   for  his Guruvayurappan.  Bangalore  Malayali   is no   exception for this. I know  of three  temples for him in Bangalore

A.Nettigere  Guruvayurappan temple

This temple  is located  in a quaint village called  Nettigere  , in Kanakapura road  , few  kilo meters of  SwamI Ravi  sankar’s Ashram. You would come across  Twinkler’s  school on your left. Few  yards   away , when the road takes a left turn,  you will  find   a typical Kerala style temple .This   is temple  of Guruvayurappan, built , consecrated   and maintained  in typical  Malayali   style according to kerala  system of worship . The dress   code  is also that  of a Malayali temple,

The Nettigere Guruvayurappan temple land owes its mahathmya for the abundant growth of Tulsi (Basil leaf), the river Swarnamukhi (monsoon fed river) on whose banks Cows were grazing for a long time and the Sanctum Sanctorum was selected, were a 12 ft high ant hill existed. The Lord of Guruvayur reappeared here to bless the people of Bangalore. In the wee hours of Kumbha month (Masi) two Garuda Pakshis (birds) received the Lord Guruvayurappan idol to the Temple at Nettigere. The God was consecrated  on a Uthram star  in the Mesha(April may  month)

Visiting the temple will give a divine feeling and the nostalgia of the Guruvayurappan Temple at Guruvayur. The moment one enters the temple, an indescribable bliss bursts upon him and he   experiences an infinite joy of seeing  his  Guruvayurappan . Every one  who visits   the temple returns  with heavy heart,  always  to return back  again to see his Guruvayurappan .

Architecture

The temple architecture resembles the typical Kerala style of construction. The idol is made of a stone called "Patala Anjanam" or black bismuth and is in the standing pose with four arms carrying the Shanka (conch), the Chakra (discus), the Gada (mace) and Padma (lotus). As per the tradition followed by this temple located in Kerala, the Idol of Sri Guruvayurappan is visible straightaway inside the mantapam, where there is no electric lights and the idol is only visible through the light of oil lamps. The shrines faces towards east with two Gopurams, one at East (Kizhakkenada) and other at West (Padinjarenada).  The entire area between these Gopurams is roofed with tiles and known as Anapanthal, the outer wall of which is fixed with a gallery of oil lamps.
