A woman can manage everything , long live woman

A woman   can manage   everything , long live woman

Rewritten  from Hindi by
P.R.Ramachander

(I read it in Whatsapp  post. I liked it .Would
All women like it?
All men like it?)

I am  a woman

I  some how  manage  to do   everything
Whether  it is  putting a Rangoli   in  the courtyard
Or whether  it is about dealing a    file of office,
Or  wiping  away  tears  of my student ,
Or advice   my maid servant about her  drunken husband,
Or whether  it is  solving worries of  each member of my family
Or whether it is dealing    with the fault  finding by my  boss in the office

With a loose hanging  tip   of my sari  , I manage  to tie them all
Am I not a woman, I  some how  manage   everything

The rule of the sister in law  , adamancy of my brother in law,
Constant mischief  by  my children, the daunts  of grandma  of my husband ,
The demand of love of my husband, the looking after of  my in laws ,
In spite of all  this, I do  enjoy greatly   with my  office  friends,

Am I not a woman , I some how   manage    everything

I take  it in my ride ,
Whether  it is attending the  marriage  of my close  friend,
Or Designing of my own  dress ,
Or shining  in the  latest hair style
Or helping with the project of my children,
Or cooking dishes   which my husband likes,
And I do all these  in a jiffy,

Am I not a woman , I some how   manage    everything

I become happy    and I become proud,
I make the world  obey my wishes,
But though  I  do manage  everything,
I do become sad,
I get broken down, I become weak, I sob,
And those times I feel the need  for some one,
To look after me,
But since  I have no one  ,
I   do wet  my pillow with my tears,

Am I not  a  woman,   who is also a human being.

Long live the  strength , power and tears  of a woman

To succeed , never lose an opportunity

To succeed  , never  lose an opportunity

(A very famous  English   story   , in my own words)

One  very strong man wanted  to marry  ,
A very rich   farmer’s  very pretty   daughter ,
And when approached    the farmer  , he told,
“For that  you should win in my   simple test.”

The young man agreed   and the farmer  told,
“I would leave   three  bulls  one  by one ,
From my stable and all   that   you have  to do,
Is touch   the tail  of  one  of my bulls. “ and he saod “ok”

The first   bull was  very ferocious   and very strong,
The young man thought, he would  take the next choice,
And the second bull was  much stronger  and ferocious,
And the  young man thought   that  he would take   the third chance

The third bull came  , very thin , very soft   and very powerless,
The young man   jumped at  that bull   only to find it does not have a tail.
The farmer told him, When  you get a   chance   to do anything,
Never wait  for an opportunity and wait next chance  .You may fail.

The boon that the tenth man asked !

The boon that  the tenth man asked !

By
P.R.Ramachander

(Not my idea but some one wrote  it some where .I am writing  in my own words)

Ten  people    were   called   by God  ,
He asked  the first  one “I can give ,
You a boon  , What would  you want ?”
He said “I  want    to be   extremely rich?”

“So be it “ said God  and asked   the next one,
He said, “I want to be Prime minister of India” ,
God said  “Okay” and the next  one   wanted ,
To be married  to the prettiest  actress of Hollywood

Next one   wanted  to be  “the chief justice of India”
Next one   wanted    to be “the president  of Congress party”
Next one   wanted   to be “cricket captain of India”
Next one   wanted  to be “highest  paid doctor of world”

God   smiled  and  approved   all these   requests ,
Next one  wanted to be “MD  of  Google inc,”
Next one  ,” president of  USA”  and the next one,
Wanted to be  , “the prettiest girl of    the world “

God Okayed   all those demands  and  the tenth man,
Who was  waiting for his turn asked “I want to be ,
Always   contented    and be   without  any worries”
God said “wait and went inside” and others laughed and jeered.

Though there was no need   the nine people   waited,
God never came , slowly   they all  wanted   to know  ,
What  God  is  going to give  to  the tenth man   and ,
Next they  were agitated  and then very   sad  .God came .

He told the tenth man “you will always be happy  ,
And these  nine   would   never be Happy  .”

Bapuji’s three monkeys in modern India

Bapuji’s three monkeys in modern India
(Not at all my idea. Read it in Tamil somewhere)

By
P.R,.Ramachander

One day the great Mahathma .
Who was in heaven met the God ,
And asked him .”I gave people ,
Three monkeys which did not talk evil,
Never heard evil and never spoke evil.”
The great god laughed and told , Those monkeys ,
Are very much there, in your India.
Two of them now occupy very great positions,
:The monkey which had closed its eyes,
Has got a job in the judicial department ,
The one which had closed its ears ,
Has got a job in the ministers in government.
,
But the poor monkey with a closed mouth ,
Has become the ordinary people of the country,
Who dare not open their mouth.

My religion is my civilization

My  religion  is my  civilization

By
P.R.Ramachander

(completly based on a wonderful write up    by Dr(Sri)  N.Gopalakrishnan of  Indian Institute  of Scientific heritage ,  in  Malayalam . My   Humble request .It is lengthy  but please read it)

My religion is beginning less  perennial  civilization
When I was born, my grandma  lit a lamp,
And  heralded  to the world  that a light was born,
On the eleventh day  , with joy  and  celebration ,
I was given a   ceremonial   Bath .

On the   twenty    eighth   day  in front of a lamp   they all,
Joyously named  me and  called me by that name
And when I further  grew  up , they decided,
To give me  food  , that  too  with  God as  witness.

After  I became  mischievous    boy or girl,
They  took me   before  our God  , who knew all,
And taught  me  how  to write   my first letters ,
By  holding my hand  and making  me write God’s name

When  I learnt  how   to read, by the help of the person,
Whom my parents told me    was   as great as God,
They also told me that  I am going to learn  everything ,
From books and that   the book was  my  God forever.

Then they took me to the schools   and  also told me,
That  the school   was and will be   my temple forever,
And    the greatest   wealth   that  I am ever going to earn,
Would be   what  I am going  to learn    from those temples.

They  told me   that  my parents   are  greater  than gods for me,
And   never   and never  I should forget  to fall at their feet ,
And they also  they  me   , to touch those people , elder or younger
On whom my  feet touches  by mistake  and touch my head .

When  i   grew up   , they told me   that  my actions   are my Gods,
And when I took a partner in life, we had to mutually  promise,
That we   would respect   and love and look after   each other,
In front  of the lighted   fire  , our  elders  as well as our friends.

When we   entered   any temple  of any of our Gods  .
I was told that  I should , not  think  other    thing,
Except  the  God  , when I was   there and they told me  ,
That He  will  fulfil  all my needs   and   also look after me.

Our elders   showed  us a mirror kept  inside  the temple,
And asked us to see  our God  inside  that mirror,
And when with curiosity    we peeped  and saw ourselves,
Our   elders  told us    that we  ourselves   are our God.

My elders   took  us to the   very learned   Guru,
Who told us how  there  is para  Brahmam was our God,
And the  reflections   of the great  concept   in each and everything ,
Was   the Gods  who see  in our temples in various forms.

He also made  me understand   that  i am not a prisoner,
Within my religion  and my religion    has  not  told me,
Any acts   or rules    which are   compulsory to my religion,
And it has  never  scared  me  by any of its   teachings.

It has told me and taught me   that  I should select ,
The path   through which  I have to travel to my God,
And all these paths   would lead me   to God Narayana,
Just like   water  raining   any where   would reach the sea.

It told me  to  uproot   all the blind beliefs  in my way,
And told me  no where  , anything  has been  told  ,
In my religion   that by not  doing   that act  ,
I would  be   considered  as not belonging  to my religion.

My religion  is my culture and not at all  my religion,
If   I consider   anything  it it as   communal  , I have,
Every right   to change it   And   every day  in my life,
I would   be thanking  God  , that I am from that  religion.

This culture   is   the tree  of heaven   which was nurtured,
By  Valmiki, Vyasa  , Vasishta  , Narada   , BHeeshma  ,
Kalidasa  , Bharthruhari  , Thiruvalluvar  , THunjan,
BHatathiri  , Vivekananda  , Ramana  and Maha  Periyava.

THis  culture   has been  nurtured by music of Narada,
The medicinal skill of Dhanvanthari , the yoga suthra ,
Given to us by Pathanjali  , science of flying by BHaradwaja,
And the  concept of zero   given to by our forefathers,

I am extremely   proud  of my great ancestors,
When Parsis , jews     and also Budhists  of Tibet,
Were   driven out  of their  motherland,
They  welcomed them and gave them  home and  food.

They recognised  and respected  all religious thoughts ,
That were   found by our  own philosophers,
And also very many  people   who came from other countries,
Because   we knew all rain water   reaches the sea.

My culture   never told  me to please   any body   else,
For by  pleasing and scaring , I do not have   anything to get,
My religion   never tells me  to convert  any one  to it,
It never tells me  only I will go to heaven and   they all to hell.

My culture  has   always   taught  me to pray    with faith ,
“May   all the worlds     with its people   have a  pleasant life,”
It has told me that if I follow   the rules  of  proper  and just dharma ,
That  Dharma    would protect me    from everything  and anything.

I will  always  follow  my culture and will always  pray for this world.

Thamra parni Maha Pushkaram (12th October to 23rd October 2018)

Thamra  parni  Maha  Pushkaram (12th October to 23rd October 2018)

Compiled by
P.R.Ramachander

Thambra parni is a very ancient river  of Tamil  Nadu .

a.Valmiki Ramayana

In Valmiki   Ramayana  when Sugreeva tells his monkeys , the way to the soulth  of Kishkinda he says

Then you will come across the divine river Cauvery  with its pure and scared waters  and in it you would see Apsara maidens playing.”                                                                                                                        41.15
“Then you would see the great  and noble sage Agasthya who shines like Sun God  sitting on the top of   the Malaya mountain.”                                                                                                                                  41.16
“Then with the permission of that great sage who would be pleased with you, you have to cross the great river Tambraparni full of crocodiles.”                                                                                              41.17
“With divine sandalwood forests and several covered  and wonderful islands , it goes towards the ocean like a wife happily goes to her husband.”                                                                                                 41.18
  b.Kamba Ramayana

In the Tamil Kamba  Ramayana    , in the same situation  Sugreeva says

4477. Then if you reach   the south Thamizh Nadu  in   which there is  the podigai mountain,
In which the   great saint Agasthya   is  doing penance   where  the Tamizh  Sangam,
Is established   and where   the great sage  lives permanently, Salute that  mountain  ,
Go forward  and  then cross   the  pretty river Tamravarni    and  then see  ,
The  great Mahendra mountain  with its  big  valleys   where  the elephant  calves live
And from there   you would be able  to see the southern ocean.

c. Mahabharatha

In mahabharatha   it is said  "Listen, O son of Kunti, I shall now describe Tamraparni. In that asylum the gods had undergone penances impelled by the desire of obtaining salvation".

The  ancient sangam literature   refers to the river as  “Tan Porunai”  river

These  references clearly establish the importance  of the river in South India. There   are several   stories about its origin linking it   to sage Agasthya. One story    says that  it was the red  lotus garland  which Lord  Shiva wore  during his marriage. It seems   he gave it to  sage Agasthya    and requested him  to go to the South of India . This garland was brought to south India  by the sage    and she turned in to the river  “THamra parni(copper coloured leaves) “. On its shores   are the Nava  Kailsam temples (papa nasam,  Cheran Mahadevi, KOdaganallur, KUnnathur , Murappanadu  , THiru vaikundam, Then thiruperai, Raajapathy and Poomangalam) as well as  Nava  THirupathi temples(Sri Vaikuntam, Natham, Thirukolur, Thirupulingudi , Azhvar Thirunagari, Then THiruperai, Thirukulandhai , Tholvillimanagalur(2 temples) )
 .
Like  most of the important rivers  of India , there  is also a Pushkaram(called  Kumbh mela  in north) in THamra Parni every twelve years and once in 144 years  the Maha Pushkaram. Since the normal   12 year pushkarams  were  not  celebrated  in a grand manner very few people know   about them. .
THis Maha  pushkaram is  going to be held   at Kurukuthurai in Tirunelveli district, where Goddess Gandhimadhi Amman samedha Lord Nellaippar resides along with Lord Muruga and Goddess Anandavalli Amman.
More information of the Maha Pushkram of THambbra parni river   of 2018  is available in

You always try be yourself

You  always try  be yourself

Rewritten in English
By
P.R.Ramachander

(Many of my friends have posted the original in tamil , saying they read it some where. The thought in these lines  is great  .I have tried to put it in my own words. Thanks to Prof.Vishvanath Das  from whose post, I read it)

Gold  is costly  , Tin is cheap,
But you cannot  make ornaments ,
Using  Tin instead   of Gold.
But tin  and gold both    are not useless.
So always  try to be yourself

Water of Ganges   is sacred,
But it does not mean , well water  is useless,
To the person    suffering   from great thirst,
Water from ganges  or any well  is the same ,
So always try to be  yourself.

Crow   is not as pretty as peacock,
But our ancestors  have  chosen,
To receive our offering to them through a crow,
And definitely   not through a pea cock,.
So always   try to be yourselves

A dog is not as valorous  as a tiger  ,
But while   Dog protects  us,
The tiger  prefers   to eat  us .
Dog, not tiger is our friend,
So always try to be  yourselves

Cotton  does not shine  like silk,
Cotton  is not costly   and is  pleasant  in tropics,
Silk only   shines,
And cannot be worn always,
So always  try to  be yourselves

The Sky  is blue , smooth and soft ,
The earth is muddy  dirty   and harsh,
And you can only  live on the earth
And never in the sky   as you will fall down.
So always try to be  yourselves

Today  is not like   yesterday ,
And it may not be like tomorrow,
WE have to live according today  ,
AS  we  do not know, how to live for  tomorrow,
So always try to be  yourselves

There is  no need to be ashamed,
There is no need to be sorry,
There is no sin    nor pain,
In living  as  your own self  ,
So always try to be    yourselves

Rub yourself and see  ,
If you are rough  make yourselves soft,
One day the   entire world,
Would   desire to live like you
So always try to be  yourselves

One day world   would,
Consider you as its model  ,
Consider you as  its lesson,
And would  desire  to live like you .
So always try to be  yourselves

Never change yourselves.
Thinking   you are useless,
And loose all those    who are living for you,
And hurt yourselves ,
So   always try to be  yourselves
