The story of unbearable Adai and Yama

The   story  of unbearable   Adai and Yama

By

( Some how   when I was a child , I never liked  Nolumbu adai  and used to call it  the unbearable Adai  , though, many people  consider  it extremely tasty .Nowadays, I do eat one or two  of the unbearable   Adai and have even started  liking  9t)

Savithri was   a princess  of olden times,
Who  married   a prince  called Sathyavan,
Knowing well   that  he has lost his kingdom,
And  that   he would   die   within a short time

After  marrying   him  , once she  met Narada,
Who told him   the exact day  Yama  will come,
To take   away the   soul of Sathyavan,
And also   gave her power to see  and Talk  with Yama

On the appointed day  Yama  came  to take away sathyavan,
And Savithri saw him     and started   , following Yama,
All  the time p talking  , crying   anf pleading   with him,
And poor Yama  went  on refusing   and refusing.

After   some time  Yama  became   very hungry ,
And  requested  SAvithri    to prepare  someing,
And in the forest with available   grain and sweets  ,
She  made a pungent (kara) adai and offered to him  .

Poor  hungry Yama  , not knowing  his  poor   fate  ,
Sat down and put a  piece  of that  Adai  in his mouth,
And  suddenly  felt shocked   at that  unbearable Adai  ,
And  he left  SAthyavan  , there  itself  and ran away.

From that  day  , every year  when it is time to bring  Sathyavan,
Yama would think   about the taste  of that  unbearable Adaii,
And  immediately   would start   shivering   and crying ,
And would decide, not  to come that year  to take any souls  on that day.
