How  Palakaatu  Rama iyer mama  lived  forever?

  Once upon a time  there was a great scholar  in Palakkad  called  Rama Iyer Mama .Rama Iyer mama   was a great scholar and and a great devotee

    So when the time for his death came , he realized this  and he was able   to see   the  Yama dhoothas  coming to take  his soul.

He asked them “I realize  you are  Yama dhoothas,But I would like to know whether  you are  Dhoothas  of old Yama  or new Yama?”

  They were confused  and told him, “What nonsense  , there  is only one Yama”

Rama Iyer  told them, “Possibly your boss is deceiving you. Possibly you know that the Lord Shiva  killed  Yama to save Markandeya.But it is  not at all clear, what happened later.Some say he gave life to the  dead body of Yama and some others say later  he created new Yama. Who is your boss? Pray”

The Rama dhoothas  were  confused  and went back and told   about this to  Yama Raja. Yama Raja  became  furious  and came himself riding on his buffalo, to take  soul of Rama Iyer,

   Palakattu Rama  iyer  was waiting for this   and he asked him “Who  are you,. Old Yama  or new Yama?”and he also explained  to Lord Yama why he is aking this question.Yama being not very intelligent said, he did not know, whether  God Shiva gave him life or created  a new Yama” .He told Rama Iyer that  he  will take him to Lord Brahma   so that they can clear  the Doubt.

 Lord Brahma said, , “He had not created a new Yama and no one seems to know whether  Lord Shiva created one  or gave back soul of old Yama. So he took both of them to lord Vishnu , who knew nothing about all these.So Yama, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu  decided to take  Palakkadu Rama iyer  to lord Shiva  himself

   Lord Shiva   was at  the time  playing  Pallankuzhi  with Goddess  Parvathy and he was not at all pleased  to have these  visitors.He told  them, it was silly question,  as he did not create  a new Yama but gave life  to the old Yama,

    Then all the Gods turned   to Lord Yama  and asked him to take away soul  of Palakkattu Rama Iyer  . Then Rama Iyer said  .”To my knowledge no human being has seen all Trimurthies  together.Since I have seen all of you, I want a boon from you”

The tri murthies thought a moment and ageed.

Palakattu Rama iyer  asked”I know every body has to die but I have an unmarried grand son who is 35  and not a graduate.Please give me a boon that  I shoud see  my great  grand son and then only die”

  Laughingly they gave that boon.Palakattu Rama iyer  lived for  ever, because  , no girl was willing to marry his  35 year old  grand son who was not a graduate”
