A great Documentry on Vedantha Desika

A great Documentry   on Vedantha Desika

P.R.Ramachander

Sri Muktha  Ravi  , who is the son  the famous director  Sri Muktha  Srinivasan   and who is my face book friend, invited  me to see the great documentary   he has prepared  on the great  Acharya  Vedantha desika

It was a thrilling   experience   to me as I am a great   fan  of this   great  Acharya. Here   are some points  that  I want to make

1.The act  of the great  religious scholar  Sri Dhushyanth Sridhar was simply superb. Even the   greatest  stars of the screen would not be   able to show  the emotions he has  pictuarised.

2. The  conversation of the  picture is in mani pravalam ie a mixture  of Sanskrit   and  Brahmin lingua. THis was   the language  used for conversation used  by the people   who lived   at the period of the great acharya.Feeling that  many people   would not understand it fully   theproducers have added  captions in English. For people   who can read english  , this seems to solve the problem greatly  As  a person who talks  Talayalam( Tamil mixed with Malayalam which is 80% Sanskrit)  I did not have any problem.

3.The film opens with a pretty song of Annamayya  .Later  unable to get  a child, the parents of Desika   approach their Guru, who tells them to pray Lord  Venkata. The seemantham of his mother  is tastefully pictiarised  ..She then sees a bell going inside her  belly in a dream and her Guru tells that  she is going to get  a great scholarly child .From then on the growth of the desika , his   arguments   with   several scholars of different relegions and belief is pictuarised well .Many of desikas  great stotras  are sung. He gets married  and  gets children  and is honoured  by his acharyas   abd great temples. After this the foreign invasion of the south  to destroy their temples and plunder  all their wealth  is clearly pictuarised. It is shown clearly as to how Desika saved   the great Sri Bashya   by fleeing to Karnataka .The last scene is the going to heaven of the great Desika

Very great job in the 750th year  of the great  Acharya  . Iwish more and more people    are  able to see   this saga of a great  Vaishnavite sage

Please see  a trailer  of the  film https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WmeB3YM8r8
