Thumb rules for a
good and purposeful life

(Based on a post in face book by several people in Tamil
under the heading 71 rules but actually
they were much less because they were
not properly numbered .But the rules make a sense for good living. )
1.Do not remain without
learning and relearning ,
What we have
learnt already and what we are going to
learn.
2.Do not unnecessarily
blame others and make them sad.
3.Under no circumstances forget or drive away your mother.
4.Do not become friends with bad people whose words and acts
are not liked by us.\
5.Do not ever go to places where there
is no need togo.
6.Do not
criticize others behind their
back
7.After understanding
that a matter is lie , do not tell it to any one else.
8.Do not try to
stabilize matters which are
not stable.
9.Do not have any
dealings with poison and people like poison.
10.Dpo not be friendly with those who do not think like us and those who cannot judge good or bad.
11.Do not go for a long trip without
sipport of others.
12.Do not ever trouble those who came with faith in us.
13. Do not ever
wander without aim or listlessly.
14,Bever trust
a staranger like your relation
15,Work and eat and do not bury savings down the soil.
16.Teach Dharma
and never forsake it
17.Do npt invite great sorrows due to short temper
18.Do not ever go
to meet those who are angry with us for a long time.
19.Do not exaggerate
the crimes of others
20.Do not move
with thieves or murderers.
21.Do not ever go to the home of those who do not respect us
22.Do not disregard the advice given by those who
are more experienced than us
23,Do not have any friendship with impatient short tempered people
24,Do not ever not give fee to the Guru who taught us
25.Do not have friendship with dacoits
26.Do not do any
attempt to act without analyzing its
good or bad
27.Do not maintain
false accounts and deceive people
28.Do not enter a
place where some enemies are fighting
with each other,
29.Do not stay even a day
in a public land
30. At the same time do not live with two wives
31.Do not develop enmity
with weak and poor people
32.Do not develop friendship with people who should be avoided.
33.Do not ever
forget the good that is done to
you by others
34.Do not create gossip and quarrels in any
locality
35.Do not ever neglect close friends and relatives
36.Do not lose chances to do acts which would bring good fame.
37.Do not come under the control of some one else and
live without being able to get free from them.
38.Do not find fault
with the place where we live.
39.Do not quarrel unnecessarily due to hatread of some one else.
40.Do not make
others sad without any kindness.
41.Do not tell that you have seen a thing , which you have not seen.
42.Do not tell words that
will hurt others
43.Do not be friends with those who criticize others behind their back
44.Do not be friends with people who flatter
themselves
45.Do not spend time
in meaningless arguments
46.Do not make others quarrel because of your
to speak
47.Never forget God or godliness
48,Never tell a lie , even if you may not live.
49.Do not be friends with relations who unnecessarily find fault
50.You have
to give proper compensation along
with sweet words to doctors, teachers , washermen, barbers and nurses
51.Do not split a
family living with unity
52.Do not interfere
in acts which will bring bad name to others
53.D not ever move
with people of evil habits
54.Never find fault
with God
55.Do not hate
respectable old people with
great experience
